Feast
performance dinner for pigs at hoekildegaard (2024)
video work (01.18min)collaboration with Mio Voisin
To make an offering
Lay out the table
Invite to a feast
Who is it that nourishes you? Feeds and Fills you up? Who do you sustain?
I can get consumed by my relations.
I wonder where do I start, and where do you begin.
I wonder about this when I am in “Nature”.
To be in, with, and of nature,
in the flesh of the world
Nature unnerves me because it contains death.
But then I re-member
we are not so separate from one another at all.
We cannot fall out of life.
We simply shift form.
The world does not stand still.
The one rule is that old must pass away for new to form.
Each being gives its body back.
In the depths of reality, there is only this one world.
In the depths, there is no duality.
There are no clear breaks, no final escapes.
We are never completely separated from the things we have seemingly overcome.
Through every encounter, we are marked,
forming alliances in territories of uncontrollable becoming.
Take, this is my body.
When we eat, we take a small part of the world into us.
We need to take the world into us for our own survival.
Edibility bridges the space between objects.
We become food for each other.
We exist through the bodies of others.
We are bodies because we constantly intermingle with the world,
because we are open to everything else,
because to be a body means
to repeatedly enter into this openness.
Don't be stingy.
Life is hard enough as it is.
Be edible.
Let yourself be consumed, ingested, digested.
I will eat you up, I love you so.
Whoever comes to me will never hunger
